DIY : Create Your Own Happiness

“If you want something done right, do it yourself!” We all depend on one another at some point for our happiness. Sometimes, it’s the “congratulations” you get from the college of your dreams, the “we would like to offer you a position at job xyz”, the “yes” after many “no”s, or  the helping hand through a tough time. Regardless of how many different ways I illustrate this, the point still remains that at various instances in our lives, someone might hold the key that opens the door to our dreams. So what happens when you reach one of those instances where you need a friend, but there’s seems to be no one for another 10,000 miles? You’ve asked for help on a particular project, but all of sudden no one is returning your calls? I could  have sworn Alice was always on her phone, but I guess not today, or the week before that! You’ve applied for so many jobs, yet you are sitting here on a monday afternoon typing this post from your bed? Or last year when Rockstar games asked us to wait another year for GTA V?! Come on!

I once asked a special someone the likeness of these questions at a time when I needed the answers and the encouragement to get up and go. Her words and advice have become a mantra I try to live by. She believed that sometimes you had to create your own doors to walk through, build your own bridges to crossover, that sometimes you just need to create your own happiness. Take control of your destiny. It’s okay to depend on others, but sometimes you have to create your own way.  You never know what awaits you on the other side until you create the way to get over there. God always has the best plans in mind, and, for all you know, these places and people you are waiting on are way below what he has got in store for you, but You never know just waiting idly. You will only know when you try! Not all of us are meant to be followers, some of us are created to be innovators, and the door might not be opening for you because it is too small for how great you are going to become.

Whenever you feel sad, down and empty, pray. Pray for God’s guidance, for his wisdom, pray for a way. God’s way. Sometimes we have our life all planned out. “If I work with company A, B  or  C, I will be the most successful I can be.” And then you try applying to company A, B, or C, and they  don’t respond, even company D won’t have you. And they weren’t even on your list! See what I did there! 😛 It’s time to step back and give it to God – He says, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  When things do not go as you planned remember to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your paths.”

I believe that when things don’t go as planned, you should only get excited! It only means that God has something better planned! And I’d take “better” over “good enough” any day! God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ever imagine and if He says “No,” He is really saying “I’ve got something a billion times better!” Just be patient and trust him. He never fails!

So try a new thing today, create your own happiness, use the little you have to create big things! You never know who you may be inspiring! This special person, my eight 29, is the inspiration for this website! I am creating my own world of happiness and success through Christ who strengthens me. 🙂

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13
