A lot has changed since the last time I lived in Paris. The biggest change being how much I have grown as a person and a photographer. During my recent visit, I realized how much I took for granted living in a city filled with so much inspiration and beauty. Walking through familiar neighborhoods like Montmartre, I remembered that I had seen this rose-colored building five years ago while showing my mom around town. I thought it was really pretty, as I do now, but thinking of it again reminded me of how quickly I passed by everything–including life. I never really stopped to truly take anything in.

This past winter, I decided to explore several neighborhoods in Paris again, this time with a lot more curiosity and attention. It amazed me how much beauty I ignored, and it also showed me how much I had matured as a person. One of the greatest lessons I learned from moving back to the U.S and living in a town that I previously perceived as ordinary is how much goes unnoticed when your eyes and heart are closed and unwilling to try. There’s a little bit of beauty sprinkled everywhere.
