Guess what? You already have the answers. You’re just not listening.

A few months ago, I came close to getting something I always wanted. I was so excited about the prospects. I couldn’t even begin to contain how blessed I felt. The ball started rolling and my dreams were possibly coming true!

Somewhere along the way, I started to develop a sort of rebellion towards this world I thought I always wanted to be a part of. I realized quickly that I didn’t belong, but I did everything I could to stay because walking away felt like the most ungrateful thing I could do. Truthfully, I was scared of how lost I’d be (again) if yet another thing that felt like something I’ve always wanted turned out to not be true. Somewhere in between faking it and ignoring my inner voice, I decided to let my rebellion have its way. Just once. I allowed myself to go out on a limb and go left when everyone else was going right simply because my crazy heart said so! And honestly, I couldn’t have felt happier, free, and, more of myself.

Armenyl on self-acceptance and self-discovery

I talk about finding yourself on my website a lot. It is a matter that is very close to my heart because, once upon a time, I decided to try to fit in. I got lost. And I have been working on finding my way back. I’ve learned so many lessons on this amazing journey to self-discovery. I no longer feel guilty about letting go of a world that didn’t feel like mine because I got something better in return: a step closer to finding myself.

If we really listened when our bodies said no, if we let go when our heart wasn’t in it, if we were courageous enough to walk away from where we didn’t feel like we belonged—no matter how counterproductive it seemed, we might actually get one step closer to finding who we are and what we really want.

What if the art of self-discovery is as simple as listening to yourself? What if you actually have all the answers? What if all it takes is the courage to follow your heart?

Friend, what if you just listened.

I learned that the biggest catalyst for my growth and self-awareness was just matter of courageous rebellion against all that, albeit popular & normal, didn’t work for me. That is in fact how you find your niche.

“In a world where everything happens so fast, where so many voices [are] shouting at our ears, and we’re often looking for answers in others more than we are within ourselves — there’s nothing more important than developing the tools we need to listen to ourselves.” — Garance Doré

This is how you find you. This is how you find yours. truly.
