\u201cArise, shine, for your light has come,
\nand the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
\n2 See, darkness covers the earth
\nand thick darkness is over the peoples,
\nbut the Lord rises upon you
\nand his glory appears over you.
\n3 Nations will come to your light,
\nand kings to the brightness of your dawn.<\/p>\n

\n

4 \u201cLift up your eyes and look about you:
\nAll assemble and come to you;
\nyour sons come from afar,
\nand your daughters are carried on the hip.
\n5 Then you will look and be radiant,
\nyour heart will throb and swell with joy;
\nthe wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
\nto you the riches of the nations will come.
\n6 Herds of camels will cover your land,
\nyoung camels of Midian and Ephah.
\nAnd all from Sheba will come,
\nbearing gold and incense
\nand proclaiming the praise of the Lord.
\n7 All Kedar\u2019s flocks will be gathered to you,
\nthe rams of Nebaioth will serve you;
\nthey will be accepted as offerings on my altar,
\nand I will adorn my glorious temple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

8 \u201cWho are these that fly along like clouds,
\nlike doves to their nests?
\n9 Surely the islands look to me;
\nin the lead are the ships of Tarshish,
\nbringing your children from afar,
\nwith their silver and gold,
\nto the honor of the Lord your God,
\nthe Holy One of Israel,
\nfor he has endowed you with splendor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

10 \u201cForeigners will rebuild your walls,
\nand their kings will serve you.
\nThough in anger I struck you,
\nin favor I will show you compassion.
\n11 Your gates will always stand open,
\nthey will never be shut, day or night,
\nso that people may bring you the wealth of the nations\u2014
\ntheir kings led in triumphal procession.
\n12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish;
\nit will be utterly ruined.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

13 \u201cThe glory of Lebanon will come to you,
\nthe juniper, the fir and the cypress together,
\nto adorn my sanctuary;
\nand I will glorify the place for my feet.
\n14 The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you;
\nall who despise you will bow down at your feet
\nand will call you the City of the Lord,
\nZion of the Holy One of Israel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

15 \u201cAlthough you have been forsaken and hated,
\nwith no one traveling through,
\nI will make you the everlasting pride
\nand the joy of all generations.
\n16 You will drink the milk of nations
\nand be nursed at royal breasts.
\nThen you will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior,
\nyour Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
\n17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold,
\nand silver in place of iron.
\nInstead of wood I will bring you bronze,
\nand iron in place of stones.
\nI will make peace your governor
\nand well-being your ruler.
\n18 No longer will violence be heard in your land,
\nnor ruin or destruction within your borders,
\nbut you will call your walls Salvation
\nand your gates Praise.
\n19 The sun will no more be your light by day,
\nnor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
\nfor the Lord will be your everlasting light,
\nand your God will be your glory.
\n20 Your sun will never set again,
\nand your moon will wane no more;
\nthe Lord will be your everlasting light,
\nand your days of sorrow will end.
\n21 Then all your people will be righteous
\nand they will possess the land forever.
\nThey are the shoot I have planted,
\nthe work of my hands,
\nfor the display of my splendor.
\n22 The least of you will become a thousand,
\nthe smallest a mighty nation.
\nI am the Lord;
\nin its time I will do this swiftly.\u201d<\/p>\n
