I’ve been meaning to share these images with you for some time. I photographed these self-portraits at the park after playing with the idea for so long. I’ve always wanted to do a story where I’m surrounded by the fluffy clouds of cherry blossoms. Since I love flowers so much, it was only a matter of time before I did one of these.
The shoot was a quick one, but it wasn’t without its challenges. Between the scorching sun and all the insect bites and bugs I had to fight off, and not forgetting getting super itchy from sitting in the grass, all I honestly wanted to do was get one shot and jump into a pool later. I, thankfully, managed to push through and also wrap up before the park started to fill up with people and their picnic baskets. Even with cherry blossoms present, the images still capture the delights of warm summer afternoons in the garden—or perhaps she snuck into someone else’s—of its hopeless romantic heroine.
Where the fairytale and I cross paths would be our shared interests in “dreaming” and remaining hopeful which, during the time I shot these images, and even now are a huge part of my personal story.
Here’s to our dreams coming true!
