I have never been to any place quite like this before. When spring started to bloom around everywhere, I found myself planning and, quite frankly, obsessing over where I could go to find the prettiest blooms. I had been to the park about 4 times in one week, chasing after every bright cherry blossom I saw, and photographing the pink flowers and blue skies that had come to take over the winter. So when I stumbled upon a Facebook post about the Azalea Garden in Brookeville Maryland I called it fate.
I visited the garden at the most perfect time, in early May, one late afternoon. Glorious sun rays were peaking through the trees and illuminating the trails that snaked through the garden. For several hours, I had the whole place to myself, which made the 5 acre forest feel even more massive than it was. I wandered through the quiet garden, enchanted by its beauty. Nearby, the river, glistening with the warm afternoon light, expanded beyond the garden and gave up a rather picturesque landscape.
