A few weeks ago, I went walking around town with a friend. He had just purchased a film camera at a thrift store, and we went about town exploring with it. We took pictures of the sunset, people on the street, inside restaurants. We captured the day with that magical click. Every moment was registered with the funny clicking sound of the vintage camera until it became music to my ears.
I kept joking about how it would be pretty sad if we looked into the camera and found there was no film in there. We should have checked when I said that, I know, but I wanted the surprise because if we looked back and found there was no film, I wouldn’t care so much because by evening every time I heard the clicking sound it was a reminder to cherish the moment because it may or may not be seen again. In that moment, I realized how beautiful it was to simply be present.
After the last beautiful shot of the sunset, we decided to check for the film…
