Honestly, I don’t need any more skincare products. My beauty cabinet is so crammed that I’ve opted for makeshift storage around my bathtub and even by my bedside. I recognize I have a big problem, but if I was going to make an exception for anything, it might as well be a Rihanna product! — Fenty Skin is here!
Rihanna recently released her first skincare line, which she dubbed “SKIN START’RS” for covering the basics of skincare – cleanse, moisturize, and protect! What’s more, every product is 2-in-1. The cleanser is both a make-up remover and a face wash, then there is a toner and serum combo, and a moisturizer with sunscreen! Making it a one-stop shop for those who want to stay on top of their skincare regimen without having to run through a rigorous 20-step routine. Rihanna also boasts of an earth-friendly design — opting for minimal packaging like a refillable sunscreen tube and twist to open bottles. These products are also clean, vegan, and cruelty-free!
Of the many things I love about this, I would say the power-packed ingredients list is my favorite. I am currently obsessed with Hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, so seeing those high at the top of the ingredient list definitely made these irresistible. Hyaluronic acid helps retain moisture in the skin, keeping it plump and supple, while niacinamide tackles a bunch of skincare issues from hyperpigmentation to enlarged pores.
I also love the finish of these products! Mainly, the toner and the sunscreen. Each one leaves a healthy glow that could easily fool anyone into thinking you just sat through a 20-step skincare routine.
More to love…
I am still testing these out to see how I like them, but so far I’ve loved the finish of the sunscreen the most. Extra points for being black girl-friendly and not leaving a white cast on my face! +++
As for the things I was not really thrilled about…
As much as I love the 2-in-1 advantage of each product, I am not really a fan of the sunscreen-moisturizer combo. This is because sunscreen in general needs to be reapplied every 2 hours, and slathering moisturizer on my face every 2 hours sounds like a greasy unbreathable mess. I wish they came separately.
I am also not a fan of witch hazel as an ingredient. This astringent can be quite irritating to the skin and cause breakouts for some. Lastly, I didn’t find the cleanser to be as effective in removing eye make-up. I always had to over again with an eye make-up remover.
FENTY SKIN Final thoughts…
Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone looking for an easy 1-2-3 step skincare routine that covers all the basics with amazing beneficial ingredients and a beautiful glow.
I already know this is going to be my go-to travel skincare pick when my carry on cannot take all 20 beauty products I try to travel with *hides face*!
